ABOUT US

 

 

We are Rodger and Sheila Chavis, both originally from Shreveport/Bossier City, Louisiana. We live in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, with our four-legged and only children, Rowdy and Phoebe. We have lived in the DFW area since we married in 1989. That same year we both began what would become our lifelong careers in creative design and marketing. Our new venture of owning and managing a vacation rental began in late 2015. While it’s supposed to be a business, it’s easy to forget that it’s work when we both enjoy it so much! Here’s how it all started…

 

Our very first vacation together was to Destin, Florida, in 1985. This was when our dream of owning a vacation home somewhere along the Gulf Coast began. We returned to Destin year after year and always enjoyed the festive atmosphere and the many activities it had to offer. In 1999, for our 10th wedding anniversary, we decided to try something a little more laid-back. This is when we discovered Perdido Key for the first time. We instantly fell in love with the island because of its sleepy beach town feel. It had wide-open spaces and wasn’t overly populated. The best part was that because of the National Seashore, it would stay that way. It quickly became and remained our go-to vacation destination. There was no question that this was where we wanted to make our dream come true.

 

Fast-forward to 2015, and the time had come for our dream to become a reality! After searching for the perfect place, we knew that Ocean Breeze West was it. Being a low-density complex with only 48 units, it offered a private beach that would never be overly crowded, and it had the nostalgic Florida feel that drew us in so many years ago. It might have taken us 30 years, but we are finally living our Perdido Dream! It was definitely worth the wait.
